WelcomeChinese

Many women are unable to become pregnant with their own eggs. This issue can be attributed to advanced maternal ages, premature ovarian failures or due to the presence of genetic conditions. However, using the special technique of In Vitro Fertilization, also referred to as “test tube baby”, they may become pregnant with donated eggs from another women (Egg Donor).

Asian Egg Donation, LLC (AED) is a national Egg Donor Agency. We specialize in offering the unique matching services for prospective Asian parents (Egg Recipients) to select their preferred Asian Egg Donors and fulfill their dreams of having their children and families. Acting as a donor is a very serious decision, it involves extensive time and effort during the donation process. This introduction will help you get familiar with the entire process before you make your first decision of becoming an Egg Donor.

Icon Donor is responsible for updating with AED regarding her availability, as well as any changes of her contact information and health conditions.

Matching Process
The following steps describe the typical egg donation matching process at AED:
Icon Having received Donor’s completed profile and photos, AED staff will contact the Donor to conduct an interview or phone consultation. The staff will review  the entire egg donation process with the Donor and address all her questions and concerns. Donor will be accepted in our Donor Pool upon satisfaction of interview. The Donor's profile information shall remain not viewable by Prospective Recipients until she's been accepted via this interview.
Icon Donor's profile/photos can be reviewed by AED Recipients via AED's password-protected  online database system. Donor's identifying information, such as Donor's name, address, contact information, etc, are not released to Prospective Recipients. Recipients may ask additional questions regarding a particular Donor, if the aspects are not addressed in her profile.
Icon When a Recipient Couple has generated particular interests towards an individual Donor, AED staff will contact the Donor. Nevertheless, it is difficult at this point to estimate accurately how long the waiting period may last for the Donor, for it may range anywhere between a few days to a few months.
Icon Recipients' personal profile can be presented to the Donor, omitting their identification information. Such disclosure of Recipient's Information to the Donor is solely aimed at helping the Donor to get acquainted with whom she is donating to, and which fertility clinic she will be working with, etc.
Icon Donor will be screened at the Recipient's Clinic (see next section for details).
Icon Upon passing her screening, the Donor will then sign an egg donation agreement with the Recipient. This formal contract shall address all the legitimate implications and circumstances of the egg donation process, including legal and financial responsibilities of both parties, compensation terms, ownership of eggs resulting from donation, etc. The contract will release the Donor from all potential rights and responsibilities with respect to the new child/children.

Donor Screening (Takes 4-6 weeks on average)
Upon completing the matching process, Donor will be scheduled to have a screening appointment at the Fertility Clinic of the Recipient, or at a Local Clinic that is conveniently located to the Donor. The Recipient’s fertility clinic physician will determine exactly what types of screenings the Donor must undertake. The screening process is normally completed during one office visit, and it may necessitate a few hours presence of the Donor at the clinic. The Donor screening may include the followings:
Icon Medical Screening: May include doctor consultation, blood tests (HIV/ hepatitis test, syphilis, blood type), pap smear/cervical culture, and urine drug screening test. Very often, Donor will be required to have a hormone blood test on the 2nd or 3rd day of her period together with a vaginal ultrasound, in order to confirm her ovarian and reproductive function. This screening is designed to to verify if the Donor is medically healthy and qualified for donating.
Icon Genetic Screening: Genetic tests are mostly performed by means of blood tests. These tests will clarify whether the Donor is a carrier of genetics diseases, such as Cystic Fibrosis, thalassemia, etc.
Icon Psychological Screening: Psychological evaluation is mostly conducted by a psychologist or social worker. The goal of the evaluation is to ensure that the Donor is aware of all the psychological implications of the egg donation process. This screening will also help determine whether the Donor is psychologically prepared to become a Donor.
Icon Partner Screening: If the Donor has a sexual partner, the partner may also be possibly required to undergo certain blood tests concerning sexually transmitted diseases.

Donation cycle process (Takes 6-8 weeks on average)
After the Donor has successfully passed all the screening tests, the egg donation cycle begins. The detailed process of the Donor cycle may vary from one clinic to another. In general, it involves the cycle synchronization, egg stimulation and egg retrieval phases.
Icon Cycle Synchronization: Egg Donor and Egg Recipient will be synchronized with respect to their menstrual cycles at the beginning of the donation process. In general, this process is achieved by taking birth control pills to manipulate the timings of their menstrual cycle.
Icon Egg Stimulation: At a normal menstrual cycle, only one mature egg is released from the ovary. However, in an egg donation process, it is necessary to obtain multiple mature eggs in order to make the Recipient's pregnancy possible. Self-injections of hormone doses on daily basis will be instructed by clinic staff and administered for duration of approximately 2 weeks. The hormone doses will fuction in the way similar to the natural hormones that was produced by the women’s body during a menstrual cycle, albeit in a higher strength. Accordingly, multiple eggs will normally become mature at the time of the egg retrieval procedure.
During this phase, donor may or may not experience soreness, redness or mild bruising around the injection site, as well as moodiness, tender breasts, enlarged ovaries and mild weight gain. Occasionally, the medications may cause "ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome," or OHSS. In mild OHSS cases, Donor may have abdominal pain, pressure and swelling. These symptoms should go away along with the Donor’s next period following the egg retrieval. In rare cases (1-3%), hospitalization may become necessary.
The Donor will be required to be monitored frequently at the clinic for blood tests and vaginal ultrasound during her hormone injections, so that the clinic can properly evaluate the development of the egg follicles and ensure that the Donor is administrating the medication appropriately. Some clinic sites require these monitoring to be completed at the same sites, whereas other clinics may allow the Donor to be monitored at a local clinic conveniently located to the Donor until the last few days of the cycle. Most clinics offer such monitorings in the early mornings (7am-9am).
Icon Egg retrieval: After the IVF Physician has determined the anticipated maturation schedule of the egg follicles, the Donor will be scheduled for the egg retrieval procedure. During this procedure, mature eggs are removed from the Donor's ovary. The Donor will be placed under general anesthesia. The Eggs are aspirated by the Physician via a long needle through the vaginal wall under vaginal ultrasound guidance. The entire retrieval takes approximately 15-20 minutes. The process does not involve cutting or suturing, and is performed under full anesthesia. During this procedure, the donor is put asleep, and thus should not feel of or aware about anything.

After the procedure, the Donor will remain at the clinic for 1-2 hours to recover from the anesthesia. Then she can return home with an arrangement of an assisted ride. The Donor will be expected to rest for the remainding of the day, as she may feel some bloating, cramping, or vaginal spotting for 1-2 days. She may take Tylenol for her discomfort. Upon completion of the retrieval, the Eggs are combined with the Male Recipient’s or a Male Donor’s sperm to fertilize as many embryos as possible in the IVF Laboratory .

Most Donors can resume normal activities, less strenuous physical duties, on the next day after the retrieval procedure.

Donor Compensation
Asian Egg Donation LLC allows Donor to set the amount of her compensation based on the individual’s time and effort. In general, however, Donors who have requested reasonable compensation amounts are normally matched sooner with Prospective Recipients.

While setting your own level of compensation, we recommend the Donor to be considerate and mindful of the following facts:
Egg donation is indeed a very expensive process for many Recipients, and higher donor compensations can often cause financial difficulties on the Recipient Couples who are dreaming so desperately to have children.

For AED Donors, our suggested compensation range is $6000-$8000. In all cases, no compensation requests may exceed the top limit of $10,000, per guidelines set forth by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). A Donor can expect to receive a portion of her compensation ($500-$800) upon commerce of her medication injections. She will receive the remaining of her compensation within one week after the date of the retrieval, upon receiving confirmation of concluded retrieval from Recipient’s Clinic.

Expenses
As a Donor, Recipients are responsible for the expenses incurred as a result of the egg donation cycle. In addition to donor compensation, other expenses are included as follows:
Icon Medical Expenses
Icon Agency and legal Fee
Icon Accidental Donor Insurance --- Purchased by AED or Fertility clinics to cover potential complications that require doctor visits or hospitalization during the whole egg donation process, as well as 3 months thereafter.
Icon Travel Expenses --- When travel is required for the egg donation cycle, travel related reimbursements will encompass such expenses as gas for excessive mileage (more than 50 miles), airfare, hotel rooms, taxi/shuttle and meal.

Out-of-State Donor Cycle
AED works with Recipient Couples and Fertility Clinics anywhere in the United States. We accommodate both in-state and out-of-state egg donation cycles. An out-of-state cycle refers to the case when the Donor resides in a location outside the area where the Recipients' fertility clinic is located, and it thus obligates the Donor to travel to perform the egg donation cycle. Most clinics demand the donor to come twice to accomplish the donation cycle. On the first trip, the Donor will be asked to stay over one night at a hotel in the vicinity of the Recipient’s Clinic in order to complete all the necessary medical and psychological screenings. Occasionally, some clinics may permit the Donor to undertake the screenings at another Clinic that is in the vicinity of the Donor’s residence. The second trip of the Donor shall commence approximately one week prior to the anticipated date of the final egg retrieval procedure. During the second trip, the Donor is expected to travel to the Recipient’s Clinic and lodge at a nearby hotel for approximately five-to-nine nights. AED will coordinate the Donor’s travel arrangements needed for the out-of-state cycle.
